Being almost 5’1″ tall can present lots of problems when searching for jeans. But I absolutely love Ariat’s denim trousers… and they come in a short length! I usually still need to wear a boot with a pretty high heel… but I don’t usually have to hem them, which is a BIG bonus for this petite cowgirl.
My favorite pair of Ariat Denim Trousers are the Mid Rise Stretch Half Moon Wide Leg Jean (Color: Eleanor).
I did end up hemming these jeans after seeing this image of me in them. They felt just a little bit too long. The hem on the jeans was super cute and I didn’t want to loose the original look. So I looked up and watched several YouTube videos on how to hem jeans and keep the original hem. I had always wanted to learn how to hem my own jeans but had never found a tutorial that made sense.
And then I found this video. It’s simple, no words, just video (with a little background music) and finally I felt like I understood how to do it! I borrowed my daughter’s sewing machine and after watching the less than 5 minute video a few times I was able to hem not just this pair of jeans but three others too!
And the trick with the binder clips… totally awesome and totally works. Now all of my jeans are the proper length and won’t be getting ruined under my boots!
I’m also really excited about Ariat’s Trouser Perfect Rise Lucy Wide Leg Jean (Color: Penelope). I don’t have any pictures in these yet, but they fit so well with tall boots and the seam down the front of each leg help to elongate the look of my legs!
Update: I hemmed the Ariat Lucy Wide Legs and they fit even better! And now I don’t have to wear tall boots with them!
